Going back to what matters
In the first half of the 20th century, school gardens were everywhere and a necessary learning medium as much as a food production staple. As screens have taken over every single classroom in North-America, we aim to reconnect students with nature and move away from constant instant gratification to nurture patience, resilience and cooperation. As every classroom now has a digital board, we believe each school should have gardens where children learn about sustainability, environmental stewardship and healthy eating habits while getting their hands dirty.
Connecting the district to the community
The Vireo experience is first a curriculum-aligned project-based learning medium used by teachers to enrich their teaching of STEAM concepts and promote student well-being. However, the scope of Vireo projects spill out of the classroom and into the community. Through the guidance of our dedicated team and the initiatives of motivated teachers, student will marvel at putting together community projects such as donations to foodbanks; fundraiser events through selling of their crops to finance various initiatives; healthy cooking classes; recipe books and much more.

Vireo ties not only to the curriculum, but also to several healthy living and student wellness objectives.
